What color is happiness? How does a summer evening taste? What does Le Parfum de Thérèse smell like? Le Parfum de Thérèse is love to the very bottom of the bottle. It is difficult to write about the one you love; it makes no sense to write about what leaves you indifferent.
Le Parfum de Thérèse is build upon three whales: aldehydes, fruits and leather. I can’t classify it. Thérèse should be given its own fragrance family, however, except for Femme Rochas (1944) and Diorama Dior (1948), I can’t remember other perfumes so harmoniously combining these three components. Aldehydes-leather, fruits-leather, aldehydes-fruits- there are plenty of those! But the perfume genius of Edmond Roudnitska remains unreachable.
Le Parfum de Thérèse is a bright, sunny, juicy aroma. I smell aldehydes throughout its development. This is practically the only thing that betrays the fact that the fragrance is man-made, otherwise it seems, it was created by nature itself. Aldehydes give it a shape, not letting the flowers and the fruits to float about. Nevertheless the scent remains very fluid. There are no rigid forms, snug cuts, tight knots, strained relations and awkward words. In the heart of the perfume, dazzling jasmine is balanced by the chilly wetness of violets; ripe melons and cherry-plums are oozing juice: this is summer afternoon, the sun is in the zenith. The leather in Le Parfum de Thérèse is the most evident on a cold, goose-bumpy skin. Jasmine closes up, fruits notes become more restrained and drier, the barely noticeable in the beginning spices are better defined and smells sharper. Is the leather worth such sacrifices is for you to decide. I am willing to be cold for it for 15 mins. With Thérèse, it’s not scary.
Le Parfum de Thérèse is a day-time fragrance. I never wear it after the sunset. Le Parfum de Thérèse lights up gloomy, dark days. It’s my sun in cold water. It’s a perfume of absolute happiness, when the parents were young and healthy, and the whole life still ahead.

Le Parfum de Thérèse построен на трех китах: альдегидах, фруктах и коже. Я не могу причислить его ни к одной группе ароматов. Для Thérèse стоило бы выделить отдельное направление, но кроме Femme Rochas (1944) и Diorama Dior (1948), я больше не могу припомнить парфюмов, так гармонично сочетающих в себе эти три составляющие. Альдегиды–кожа, фрукты–кожа, альдегиды–фрукты – сколько угодно! Но парфюмерный гений Эдмона Рудницки остался недостижимым.
Le Parfum de Thérèse – яркий, солнечный, сочный аромат. Альдегиды я чувствую на всем протяжении его звучания. Это едва ли не единственное, что выдает рукотворность аромата, который, казалось бы, создала сама природа. Альдегиды придают ему форму, не давая цветам и фруктам растекаться в пространстве. Аромат остается при этом очень пластичным. Здесь нет места жестким формам, тесному крою, тугим узлам, натянутым отношениям и неловким словам. В сердце аромата пронзительно-яркий жасмин оттеняется прохладной влажностью фиалок, истекают соком спелые дыни и алыча: летний полдень, солнце в зените. Кожа в Le Parfum de Thérèse лучше всего проявляется на замерзшей, “гусиной” коже. Сворачивается жасмин, фруктовые ноты становятся строже и суше, четче и острее звучат едва заметные в тепле специи и появляется рыхлая, мягкая, как масло, кожа. Стоит ли она таких жертв – решать вам. Я готова померзнуть ради нее четверть часа. С Thérèse это не страшно.
Le Parfum de Thérèse – дневной аромат. Я никогда не надеваю его после захода солнца. Le Parfum de Thérèse освещает хмурые, пасмурные дни. Он – мое солнце в холодной воде. Это аромат абсолютного счастья, когда родители были молоды и здоровы, и вся жизнь еще впереди.

Femme Rochas
Нашла у себя в архивах два черновика на Femme Rochas. Так бывает с особо любимыми парфюмами, когда в попытках прикрыть свои чувства хоть какими-то лохмотьями из слов пробуешь написать о них что-то соизмеримое им и своей в них влюбенности. Сейчас я хочу закрыть эту тему и больше к ней не возвращаться, пока начатый пост не стал третьим черновиком.
Мне не нравятся рекламные фотографии к Femme. Они слишком искусственные и жеманные, а Femme совсем не об этом. Эти духи создавались в такое время, когда родиться и выжить могло только настоящее:

Он все сказал. Никаких сентиментов. Добавлю, что это самые чувственные духи не только у Рудницки. Более чувственных искусственных запахов я не встречала. Когда я первый раз открыла пробирку с Femme, то от волнения у меня дрогнула рука и я разлила приличное количество парфюма на старый комод из необработанного дерева. Комод еще долго пах и будоражил.
Теперь у меня есть флакон этих духов, как на этой старой рекламе. И тоже без бантика. Он был весь липкий из-за подтекшего горлышка, и не перенес стирки. Так даже лучше.
